Episode II - Technical Terminology Explanation == To help you enjoy the story more, this will go ahead and explain the technical terminology that appears in the game. Furthermore, the terminology that is being selected here are not only from Episode II, but it will also include terms from Episode I. *************************************************************** ===== # ===== * 100-Series Observational Realian (Multiple Observative Mimetic Organicus) An anti-Gnosis-use search Realian that was developed by Joachim Mizrahi. Their appearance is that of a
young girl, but this is because they were modeled after his daughter, the
late Sakura Mizrahi. The "100-series system", which makes it
possible to interfere in the imaginary domain, was installed in these
Realians, and due to the Hilbert Effect which uses this system, they are able
to physically anchor the Gnosis. Currently, three types have been confirmed:
the Kirshwassers, who were Momo's data collectors; Momo, the prototype; and
the mass-produced models. ~Related topic: Gnosis, Realian ===== A ===== * Abel's Ark The largest class Gnosis that arrived immediately after the local matter shift made by Albedo had vanished, and was accompanied by a gigantic surge. Abel's Ark, which was lost after it had taken in the Original Zohar, had an outward appearance like a battleship, and carried within its central area something that looked like planets. Like when Wilhelm described Albedo as the existence that would "open the door that leads to Abel's Ark", it is thought that it is Wilhelm's intention even before the Ark's arrival. In the Old Testament, "Abel" is mentioned as the son of Adam, and "Ark" is mentioned as what was ridden by Noah, who was equivalent{?} to the 7th generation descendent of Abel. ~Related topic: Gnosis, Local Matter Shift, Original Zohar, Zohar ~image: Abel's Ark, which arrived after Albedo vanished. -- * Abyss Known as "abyss (deep pit)", "hades", etc, in Japanese, it means something so deep that the bottom is unknown. What Shion and the group are calling the "Abyss" is the double-blackhole where Old Miltia was sealed away. When approaching closer than a standard limit, a blackhole pulls [things] into its central part by a gravitational field, and it possesses the special characteristic where [things] become unable to escape again from that place. This special characteristic of "becoming unable to escape" is likened to the "Abyss". ~Related Topic: Old Miltia, Proto Merkabah -- * A.G.W.S. {Anti Gnosis Weapon System} Short for "Anti-Gnosis
Weapon System". Generally they are human-shaped, but there are also various other forms besides those. The weight is comparable to a large passenger vehicle, while also being small in size. Also, a transferrence-type generator is used in the AGWS' power system, so because things like drive energy and space-launch propellant are directly transferred from a mothership, they can be semi-permanently mobile as long as the mothership is not destroyed. The AGWS that are widespread
over many armies are the mass-produced models of Hyams Heavy Industries,
while the Vector Industries' types are in the midst of military trials with
the purpose of marketing to the private sector. In regards to spec, Vector's
types achieve higher performance. ~Related Topic: AMWS, Gnosis, Virgil -- * A.M.W.S {Assault Maneuver Weapon System} Short for "Assault Maneuver Weapon System". It indicates the general term for the human-shaped weapon system that gains control of a target, and works in conjunction with a mothership, escort machine, and support firearms. AMWS had dominated a large
share up until they were miniaturized for anti-Gnosis combat use; these
improved ones were the AGWS. However, because AMWS are, even now, still
surpassing in multipurpose capability and cost, they are widely deployed for
anything other than anti-Gnosis combat, regardless of influence from the
Galaxy Federation Government, various autonomous state governments, the
Immigrant Fleet, or the like. ~Related Topic: AGWS, ES -- * Andrew Cherenkov A Galaxy Federation Marine Corps Commander, and also a member of U-TIC. He served as second in command of the cruiser Woglinde, in charge of the unit for the investigation of the disappearance of planet Ariadne. Even though he underwent a personality reconditioning procedure for having committed murder, his murderous impulses were not suppressed. Noticed by Margulis, Andrew came to be affiliated with the U-TIC Organization. Even though he had boarded the Elsa, he ended up being defeated by Shion and the others because he had turned into Gnosis. ~Related Topic: Ariadne, Gnosis -- * Anima {Vessel of Anima} A mysterious object that is said to have been discovered at the same time period as the Zohar. In the story, URTVs and U-Do are treated as anti-existences that possess Inverted-phase waves to each other. Jr, who was deployed as part of the URTV force at the Miltian Conflict, recognized that the collision of anti-existences would make a conversion in temperature, and in order to avoid that which would be caused by the collision of spiritual waves, he had no choice but to abandon the emission of the wave. ~Related Topic: Inverted Phase, U-Do, URTV -- * Antiphase {lit: Inverted Phase} The state in which the polarity of a signal is reversed. "Polarity" indicates the electrical inclination that exists within a molecule. In the case where Inverted Phase is considered, it is best to imagine the state of a waveform that becomes completely opposite of the original waveform. ~Related Topic: Anti-existence, Anti U-Do wave, URTV -- * Anti U-Do Wave Indicates the thought-waves formed by the URTVs. Because they possess the inverted-phase waveform to U-Do, they can nullify the waves emitted by U-Do. It is also a Psychology term, "Archetype (basis-form)", which was one of the concepts proposed by Jung, and he compared some personalities (=basis-forms) to the elements that constitute man's subconscious, and in combination with that, he tried to explain the deep levels of the psyche. ~Related Topic: Anima {Vessels of}, Kevin Winnicot, Third Armament ~image: The KOS-MOS research facility where the Archetype went berserk (from Episode 1) -- * Ariadne A planet where 1.5 billion people lived. A U-TIC Organization testing facility was also established here. Children Children who were artificially bred by culturing fertilized eggs within a capsule. Among the researchers who work for Vector Industries, it seems there are many who graduated from Borromeo. In the Realian adjustment room on-board the cruiser Woglinde, he performed tasks such as regulation and input of the tactical algorithms of the combat Realians which had been assigned to the same ship. She is Febronia's little sister, and is being called "Cathe" by Shion. She is Febronia's little sister, and is being called "Cecily" by Shion. In Jr and Albedo's case, they developed at a state where they were attached at their backs. The probability that conjoined twins are produced is several million to one, and only occurs on the occasion when one fertilized egg begins to divide into two, but because the splitting is either delayed or it is insufficient, it ends up being in a state where they remain joined. ~No related topics -- * Connection Gear A portable personal computer that has the function to communicate via the UMN. Its actual form is small enough to fit in one hand, and while it is being used, a holographic monitor and keyboard appears. They were made to accomodate various needs, like bartending or item dealing, and female-shaped droids with a different outward appearance also exist. ~Related Topic: none ===== E ===== * Encephalon Means "brain" in Greek. Indicates the virtual space that is constructed based on the memories of people who upload the record of their actions to the UMN. In addition, accessing this space is called an "encephalon dive". ~Related Topic: Nephilim, UMN -- * E.S. A human-shaped computer-terminal weapon that boasts ability that far surpasses AMWS. In an ES, a "Vessel of Anima" had been loaded on board, and because of its high-caliber maneuverability, Canaan had said "a normal human is not able to ride on that thing". There are many two-seater-type crafts, but it seems that ES Asher and ES Simeon, etc, can be driven by only a single pilot. Also, besides those made by Vector Industries, including the ones called ES Zebulun and ES Dinah, there exists ones that were developed by another weapon development company. However, due to the resonance phenomenon produced between ES Asher and ES Issachar, and the like, it is certain that they are weapons in which many mysteries are yet remaining. Accordingly, they have come to be treated as symbols of universal death. Also, the development of the spaceplane that transformed into ES Dinah was something made by Kevin's hand. When suspicion of treason by the Kukai Foundation surfaced in the legislature, it was Lapis who pretended to detain Shion and the others on the Durandal, and it was Lapis who rescued them. ~Related Topic: none -- * Local Matter Shift {Space-time anomaly} The mysterious phenomenon that is caused by the Original Zohar and the Zohar Emulators. At the present time, the main local matter shifts that can be confirmed are given in these three examples: at the time of the Original Zohar's discovery, at the time of the link experiment of the Zohar Emulator by the U-TIC Organization, and at the time that Albedo linked with U-Do. He covers his body in a red mantle and mask, and he is constantly nearby as Wilhelm's close aide. The same as the other cloaked men, he appeared along with a mysterious maneuver-weapon. His body is wrapped up in a white mantle, and he is concealing his true face by wearing a mask. Nonetheless, from such things as the point that the man in the blue cloak, Virgil, is taking up the attitude as if he is an acquaintance of his, isn't it perhaps that the true-self of this man is being guessed from the very color of that white cloak? ~Related Topic: Testament, Virgil ~image: The Man in the White Robe -- * Masuda The archaeologist who excavated the Zohar. Under his leadership, the investigation and excavation of the ancient ruins connected with the Zohar was conducted at the lakeshore of Turkana, Kenya in A.D. 20xx. Details about the ruins and the silver-colored Zohar-shaped plate that he possessed at that time have not been revealed. Incidentally, the circular stone block that the plate was inserted into seems to be used as the pedestal of the "Compass of Order" which is currently within Wilhelm's office. ~Related Topic: Zohar ~image: The circular stone block -- * Miltia Refers to Old Miltia, which was the main planet of the Miltian Autonomous Government, and Shion's homeworld. After the Miltian Conflict, it came to be called "Old Miltia" because Second Miltia had been established. ~Related Topic: Miltian Conflict, Old Miltia, Second Miltia -- * Miltian Conflict The conflict that broke out 14 years ago and involved the entire Galaxy Federation. It came to be called the "Miltian Conflict" because the Miltian space region was the location of the heaviest combat. Joachim Mizrahi was publicly recognized as the mastermind of the conflict, but according to the data that Jin obtained, it was the expectations of organizations such as U-TIC and the Immigrant Fleet that seemed to be working in the background of the conflict's outbreak. There was also a strong indication that the madness of the Realians and federation soldiers due to the Song of Nephilim was part of an experiment. Also, because mtDNA is passed down only by the mother, the existence of a female becomes indispensable for the preservation across to the next generation. For this reason, Yuriev, who is a birth-parent, had created a female-body URTV who stressed the importance of preserving mtDNA. ~Related Topic: URTV ===== N ===== * Nano Machine A minute, molecule-sized machine. Various types satisfying various needs exist, from body tissue repair to terraforming, and they are even used in recovery items and ethers. Also, the structures of nano machines are not all the same either, and they vary from something that is composed of proteins to something that is a mechanical device. Of them all, the one that played an important role at many levels was the type called "Environmental Bug", which worked to freshly maintain an enclosed environmental space. As for why she is sending messages to Shion, or what her relation is with the Song of Nephilim that Joachim Mizrahi developed, and such-- still, many mysteries remain. Also, because she appears in front of chaos as well, and has direct conversation with him, it is guessed that there is some kind of connection between the two of them. The origin of the word was introduced in the Bible as "Nephilim", which is the general term for those who were born from humans and gigantic angels called "Grigori".
